Oh, Harriet

Admittedly, I have mixed feelings. What's this about Harriet Miers? Yesterday, she had resigned from the Supreme Court process. Was she qualified to be a Supreme Court justice? Does she have what it takes to intellectually tackle national judicial issues? Although she may be a Christian, does she have the experience to deal with the court cases that go before the Supreme court? Okay, she has a law degree. That means she's smart, right?

After looking at her experiences, one has to evaluate if she truly can handle controversial topics and write appropriate opinions? Even if she is qualified to fill the position, her career doesn't reveal much evidence that she could effectively deal with the demands. You've got to give it to W. He rewards loyalty. She has been in his service for so many years. She passed the bar and led law associations. I think she felt okay to stay in service in an admin role under the executive branch. Did she ever have aspirations to be a Supreme Court judge?

Okay, so you want a judge with conservative views? At least, get someone who has a proven work record or working diligently up the judiciary track. It appears that she was pushed into the limelight without any preparation. My 2 cents.

Today's verse: Romans 12:8 (New International Version)

if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
