Well, I hope everyone is safe and sound after their St Patrick's Day celebrations!
For the first time in a long time, I spent a Friday night in bed watching DVDs.
How pathetic and boring, right? I have to tell you something. It was one of the best restful nights I've had in a long, long time.
Plus, I was recovering from an all-day board meeting. From 8:30 am to 4 pm, I spent my day in a cramped meeting room with over 25 people, "shoulder-to-shoulder", talking about mundane work stuff.
The most exciting thing during the day occurred while I was leaving work.
Yesterday, as C____ and I were leaving the building, we drove by the long lines of green shirts and shamrock hats in front of the Dubliner and Kelly's Irish Times pubs. The lines wrapped around the Phoenix Park Hotel. During regular days, friends, colleagues and I will frequent their respective restaurant sections for some basic Irish fare or for a drink or two.
On March 17th, this area is usually avoided, due to the craziness as people rush to get into the bars.
When we arrived at the corner of Louisiana and Constitution Aves, a few feet away from the car, we noticed a young, pretty woman passed out dressed in a green t-shirt lying on the curb behind an awaiting taxi cab. She was lying there for a few minutes. Her young male companion struggling to stand up on his own was attempting to pull her up to get inside the taxi.
After they finally got some leverage and stopped swaggering for a moment, they brushed the dirt off. They eventually and safely got into the taxi cab.
If you ever hang out near the Capital area, you'll notice quite a number of camera reporters and crews in front of the La Colline restaurant or Union Station. The Capital area, specifically the Capital dome, serves as a great backdrop for live, national news segments from these areas.
We watched as a camera crew had dismantled their positions at the La Colline site.
Wouldn't it be funny or embarrassing to see you or your family members on screen passed out on the curb? Such a different way to say, "Hi, mom! Look at me." At least, they were thinking ahead. They took a cab.
Hmmmmm, I probably will check out the latest CNN and local news channels tonight for any local news clips.
