Last night, a car ran up the hill and hit the entrance to my home church. Quite scary!
Here is a synopsis of the incident. A truck driver in a company vehicle on an approximate street ran a red light and hit another car, a Honda civic, in which the young driver passed out and hit the accelerator at full speed. The car sped through the front yard, hitting another car, and then hit the main doors. Besides one of the glass doors damaged during the event, the church didn't take on too much damage. My church is located on a small hill. You would have to take great effort in order to hit the main church door entrance. Fortunately, he and the other two riders, both female, are in good health. Unfortunately, the driver of the truck ran off scared.
I didn't realize that was going to happen as I was meeting with the head pastor and his wife to go over some strategic planning @ 7 pm at the church. All major roads were blocked off by police due to this incident. It took me an hour to go around the traffic and almost another hour to get out of the area.
As of July 2, police are still searching for the truck driver.
