Weekend in review: Theme "Late, missed, and tired"

Despite the tremendously humid weather and the ongoing traffic, it was a very good weekend.

Due to late starts and DC summer traffic, I was late for almost all weekend events. (I've mentioned summer traffic in a previous post.) I try to arrive at events on time.

Almost all events.

I totally missed my young sister's competition at this location. She has been training diligently for several months with a special low-carb diet and weightlifting. Her fiance is her coach. He is a former competitive bodybuilder.

From what I was told, she did pretty well, 5th in a group of 50 in her division. She has competed in local competitions, but this is her first regional competition, and her older brother is very proud.

Usually starting late, the Men's ministry breakfast meeting was quite good. A local Naval chaplain was scheduled to speak, but he never showed up. So, the associate pastor spoke eloquently on the

Also, after the breakfast I got a few hours in with racquetball with a couple co-workers. Yeah, I was a few minutes late taking a different route.

As well, I missed the World Cup and Wimbledon Finals on Sunday and I missed brunch with family.

Can you hear me grumble?

I was even late for church service. I missed the Praise and Worship time.

After church service I immediately drove down routes 395 and 95. What a mistake! I was tired from driving in the heat and running late anyway, so I drove back home and took a snooze.

I did enjoy my sleep. That's why it was a good weekend. I caught up with over 14 hours of sleep. Is that abnormal?

I even inadvertently blew off my weekly run with S. and Roz.

Thank God is always on time.

Today's Scripture: Psalm 127 (New International Version)
A song of ascents. Of Solomon.

1Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.
2In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves.
3Sons are a heritage from the LORD,
children a reward from him.
4Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are sons born in one's youth.
5Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
