Newsworthy 08/02/06: Chaplains, Bibleathons, tolerance, and Samaritans

A few weekends ago, the extreme sports life group at my church went parachuting. I really didn't have the funds to spare at the time to jump out of a small plane. Surprisingly, one of the associate pastors also participated in the event.

Talk about no fear. Maybe someday, you'll hear news about me screaming from an airplane jump.

But. Not. Today.

Well, that particular event reminds me of an article describing the fearlessness of US military chaplains during their armed forces excursions.

The recent online San Diego article talks about the experiences of airborne chaplains working within a chain-of-command environment and dealing/working with soldiers.

In Peterborough, UK, a church attempts to get into the Guiness Book of Records as they participate in an exhaustive Bibleathon. More information about the planned record breaking event is found here.

This Fort Worth brief news release examines how far should Christians tolerance of other religions go.

It doesn't happen everyday to hear how someone appreciates Samaritan work, but I thought this article was a noteworthy piece since we don't hear about these types of acts too often in the news. See details at this news site.
