Peace of mind at the workplace

Even though yesterday's commute was quite adventurous, surprisingly, this week has been relatively quiet and stress free. So far, so good.

The bosses and the rest of the convention staff are in NOLA this week and won't be back until Monday or Tuesday. Sigh!

It does feel kinda weird that I'm not there. I have attended this conference since I took this job in 2000. Not until today did I realize that I needed a break from travel.

I forgot how quiet the office environment is during this time.

Tonight I'm heading to this place with Mr Magic. It's been months since we hung out. Even at this venue, we didn't get an opportunity to indepth about what has been happening with each other lately. I'm looking forward to quality time with a friend.

And, then, me and this lovely lady will be hanging out at this place for some chillin' and relaxin'. If you are around, stop by and say hello.

This morning a co-worker told me that the Union Station metro stop was closed (again, I thought?). I rushed to grab a quick lunch there and I saw a flashing DC police car and a fire engine stopped in the middle of the road in front of Union Station.

Sigh.

This town, especially this particular area, can be filled with so much drama. When I returned from grabbing lunch and walking out of the station, I noticed that a young girl was lying down on the concrete. Paramedics were attending to her needs and she appeared to be in good spirits.

On another note, I have been told by a couple colleagues that they may have found the culprit stealing wallets at the office. One person was asked to identify some pictures. Rumor has it that it may be possible another person was involved with the robberies.

BTW, this week my co-workers and I stopped at Thai Chili, a fairly new restaurant in the Gallery Place/Chinatown area.

The pad thai was quite good. It wasn't dry like in other restaurant venues in which they rushed to get the dish out of the kitchen. I especially like it when they add sufficient amount of peanuts. That's a plus.

Totally yum.

I haven't tried any other dishes yet. So, I won't offer any restaurant reviews yet, but I will return to do some research. ;)

On the PC, I'm currently listening to Wanderlust by Duke Ellington. Jazz classics can help the mood so much.

Yeah, it's one of those days.

Take care.
