Newsworthy 12/5/06: Pastoral Prayer Language Controversy; Mark Driscoll Response; Obama Wows Conservative Right

A Southern Baptist pastor got in a heat of trouble when he proclaimed that he spoke in tongues during sermons, states this AP article. Approximately 150 pastors have come to his support on Tuesday for the denomination to re-examine its policy governing this practice.

Religious columnist Mark Driscoll responds with an apology to his critics and others reacting to recent posts about the role of women and Ted Haggard's wife from his personal blog. His apology diffuses a potential protest. Also, the Seattle Times drops his column. The paper states that the protest against Driscoll was not in play. Mr. Driscoll has got to learn from the growing pains of national coverage and national exposure.

The article relays Senator Obama wows Conservative Right at AIDS conference hosted by popular pastor Rick Warren. It appears that Obama, a Democrat, is wooing evangelicals who traditionally vote Republicans, while other Democrats trash talk evangelical voters. I'm curious to see how Ms. Clinton responds to the evangelical voting population.

Here's a radio interview of the instigator of the "protest" against Pastor Driscoll. Judge for yourself:

I heard some parts of the interview, but it cut off near the end.

Quite revealing about "why" they are protesting.
