It appears that Jesus is now in court in other parts of the world too. Italy will put our Lord on trial. An Italian court is tackling the issue whether Jesus existed. Two elderly gentlemen in their 70s with opposing views from the same town will be entering their cases.
More details can be found at the Times Online and CNN.
It sounds like one of the men has a real problem with the Catholic church.
On a similar note, a Pennsylvania education board had rescinded their decision on their intelligent design policy. Part of the issue is that an earlier board with different members had declared that teaching of Darwin's theory in the classroom as not actual fact. The new board with different members has now rescinded the policy.
Interestingly, other states like Kansas and Georgia are or have been facing similar issues over the theory of evolution, creationism, and intelligent design being taught in schools.
With such controversial news, opportunities to talk about Christianity are a good thing. On a side note, it will be interesting when The Da Vinci Code Movie comes out in May 2006. I admit that I read the book. It was entertaining, although the writing was not smooth. The content and the pace of the book is what helped me to finish it. What kind of hype, furor, controversy or discussion will be brought up in the media, churches, and at home? If the book brought up heated conversation when it was on the NY Times Bestsellers List, then the movie may definitely bring up religious controversy too.
When conversations about religion come up, are you ready to stand up for what you believe in and defend your faith?
14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached
