A colleague got me hooked on a music "radio" station web site catering to your musical tastes. It has been out for several weeks. See www.pandora.com.
What makes it so impressive? You can create your own radio station. Type an artist or song in the search box.
For example, type "Mahalia Jackson". We like our gospel music. Yes, we do. You will be prompted by the following message: Is that an artist or song?
After they run through the gamut of music, the web site will line up music samples that may be part of your preferences. When they line up choices, you can give a thumbs up or thumbs down to the type of music played. If you picked a particular artist, the station preference will line up similar songs. As you pick your preferences either thumbs up or thumbs down, the radio station will cater to your preferences.
With my example, they pull up different songs by Mahalia Jackson and other similar song types/genres by artists.
You are required register on the site. They can store your preferences (read: radio stations). I already created a radio station for the "Blind Boys of Alabama" and I'm impressed with the other songs from different artists displayed within this radio station, such artists as the "Mighty Clouds of Joy" and the "Soul Stirrers".
Obviously, it is a revenue making site and it has links to purchase music.
Recording and sharing my experiences onscreen. Writing about the Washington DC metro area, Christianity, current events, travel, the local church scene, and my life adventures...And, yes, any tales, observations, & opinions may be included.
