Up, up and away...

Several weeks ago on a Tuesday night during a YA meeting, W., summer the intern, got an opportunity to talk about very little, which is surprising for most people in a ministry position.

He turned off the lights. He lit up incense and candles and gave an introduction to the prophetic. A dozen of us were present for this teaching. We sat along couches and chairs figuring out what were the plans for tonight's teaching and listening to his words as he walked around the room.

Instead of a typical teaching or preaching, we gathered together to participate in a group exercise, specifically a meditation workout. It was a visualization exercise in which he set up prophetic music to be played in the background, lights were dimmed, and incense burned to set up the mood. Members were to close their eyes and focus on the music. We laid down somewhere in the room and allow our thoughts to wander and allow God to show us things that were relevant to us, our situations, or relevant to others.

Having a psychology background, I had encountered similar experiences with this type of exercise where I listened to soft music and visualize images in order for the thoughts to flow.

Sometimes, the opportunity to sleep may occur. I didn't hear any snoring during the exercise.

It works if you are open to unstructured exercises receiving random thoughts and allow those thoughts to go deeper. We listened to a CD by Robert Strang called "“The River".

While listening to sounds from the CD, I opened my eyes and watched other people for a moment. Some people received glimpses of things and wrote down their thoughts on paper, and a couple people kneeled down for prayer.

Attendees in the group received memories, images, and/or Scripture. A couple people didn'’t receive anything or may have received something, but uncertain about these visions.

Here are my impressions gained from such a relaxing exercise.

Lying down on the couch, I first saw an image of a tambourine. Then, after a few moments, I saw a scene of a beach. After that, I saw clouds and sky. No earth below me. Many clouds were golden colored hues. (No, I wasn't high.)

I saw infinite space for miles. I sensed a cool nice breeze. As the soothing sounds continued, I felt light/floating on air. I then saw my body moving in the air. Yes, I flew.

Eventually, I arrived at my end destination. I landed on solid ground toward Him …

Joy.

In a few minutes, I was led to read the following Scripture out loud:

Psalm 36:5-12 (New King James Version)

5Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
6Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep;
O LORD, You preserve man and beast.

7How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
8They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
9For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.

10Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12There the workers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been cast down and are not able to rise.

When the music stopped, I heard about people's experiences. I got an opportunity to speak last. I got so excited to talk about this personal vision and Scripture.

It's about His glory.
