Back in action starting today.
I spent Thursday afteroon and early evening at my parents and invited some friends from church to partake in my parents' wonderful cooking. It was a good time for all. I met a newlywed couple who may be interested in attending my home church.
Then I stopped by A's place for another Thanksgiving meal. There was good food also. S and R were there. A didn't make any tarts this year. They were sorely missed. I arrived late to her house as they were watching a boot leg DVD copy of this movie, which was quite funny. Not necessarily that the movie was funny, but the copy itself was priceless. While the DVD was playing, I could see shadows darting across the screen and I heard the audience's laughter. Another thing was the DVD quality, the screen quite grainy methinks and echoes could be heard.
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!
Also, I got an opportunity to see the following play at the Arena Stage on Friday. The play is an entertaining periodic Christmas romantic comedy (rom-com as some experienced movie goers say). Also, I saw the latest Bond movie with another friend. In fact, I saw a few movies during the holiday.
This movie is funny, offensive, and can be over the top with a couple scenes. It does display some insight about a few things. At what expense? I think Pentecostals would be offended by a particular scene, but I haven't heard any news about it. Surprisingly, after watching the film, I found myself speaking in the same accent while talking to friends.
I saw this movie the day after Thanksgiving. Like most folks who are taking off from work during that day, L and I (moi) spent the afternoon at the movies. Fortunately, we arrived early to purchase tickets as the earlier show sold quickly.
This is one of the better Bond movies I've seen in some time. Although it took me time to adjust to a Blond Bond character, we gave the heads up on Daniel Craig as the new Bond. I liked the direction in which the filmmakers rebuilt the Bond character. Starting fresh, I say.
As I have heard both critics and moviegoers say, it's quite the movie. Yes, it's a bit savage, but the acting is good and the pace is fast. Jack Nicholson of course over does it, but it still is a believable performance. I'm not a Leonardo DiCaprio fan, but his performance in this movie is intense. The directing --- excellent. WARNING: They weren't kidding when they said it is a violent movie.
