Random thoughts about doggie naps

Do animals dream? At least one scholarly article states it so.

I often wondered if animals actually see or sense things while they sleep. When I watch my parents' dogs sleeping on their nice comfortable rugs in the kitchen, I sometimes hear them whimper or bark in their sleep or move their legs while they laid down with eyes closed as though they were walking. Curious, isn't it? If they do indeed dream, what do you think that they are dreaming?

As you can tell, I've got too much time on my hands today. The weather has been affecting productivity.

Another thing is that the family dogs are getting quite older. In fact, I can see their grey hairs (fur?) getting "greyer". The two animals, Mutley/Noble and St John/Rambo, are black lab mixes, and they are amazing and friendly creatures. The reason why the dogs have two names is that my brother and I call them by one name when we first got them and my parents call them by another name some time later. How confusing is that? Mutley is the smarter one, but St John is the friendlier (and sloppier) one.

Maybe some day I'll post a few pics of them.

They appear to respond to both names, although Mutley/Noble has a hearing problem.

In previous visits to the house, I would sneak one of them in my room and let him sleep on top of the blankets. They loved it. Mom would get annoyed washing linens with so much dog hairs.

I guess I'm hoping to see those dogs on Thanksgiving. I'm visiting the parental units again on T Day. Family, animals, foods, breaks, and fellowship are some things I'm looking forward in partaking on that upcoming American holiday.
