Newsworthy 12/16/06: Billy Graham statue; Jay Bakker Punk Rock Church; Apocalypse computer game controversy

Late posting

Billy Graham statue was unveiled last Wednesday in Nashville to commemorate the work of the 88-year-old preacher. More details are found here and here. I didn't find any information about the cost.

Punk rock evangelist Jay Bakker is getting more news spotlights in recent days. He and Marc Brown give a CNN commentary about his (their?) view on Christianity and his "niche" in the Christian community. It helps when you are scheduled to talk with Larry King and have a six-part documentary to show his ministry work with Atlanta punk rockers.

I talked about his book as well in a previous blog posting. It's a good read.

Just in time for the holiday gift-giving season, a new teen-targeted computer game has been launched to promote the endtimes. Apocalypse, a strategic type of game, has caused controversy for both Christian and Non-Christians in the US. More details are found here. The article states that players will battle the Anti-Christ, convert non-Christians, and, while battling the forces of evil, take in gun battles.

Hmmmmm, I'm wondering if this game can be called an effective evangelism tool.
