Here are a few belated news tidbits.
Although he doesn't fit the typical Christian role, punkrocker/evangelist Jay Bakker, son of Jim and Tammy Bakker, talks about his past family history, life in punk rock and his own ministry with at-risk youth in this article. He may be following his dad's televangelistic footsteps.
Anglicans in Tanzania cut off ties with U.S. Church aid as discussed in detail here. Also, local Virginia diocese have are also considering breaking from the main church.
An ABC new online article says that popular TV evangelist Joel Osteen has been named as one of the ten most fascinating people of 2006. A colleague formerly from Houston previously attended his family's church. The congregation was quite huge then, she says.
The New Yorker writer and former WP reporter Malcolm Gladwell writes from his blog about what is a racist and mentions a certain scene in the Borat movie in which Sasha Cohen's main character attends a Pentecostal church and makes fun at the church service. Although many complaints have been brought up against this movie, I'm very surprised more people have not complained about this scene.
On a personal note I enjoy Gladwell's books.
Recording and sharing my experiences onscreen. Writing about the Washington DC metro area, Christianity, current events, travel, the local church scene, and my life adventures...And, yes, any tales, observations, & opinions may be included.
