This photo was taken in front of the National Portrait Gallery.
Last Friday, I took a tour of the museum. After I entered the hall and security checked my camera bag, I go to the information desk to inquire if (and where) I can use my camera in the museum. A person behind the information desk assured me that flash photography is even allowed, except for special exhibits/exhibits on loan.
After hearing this, I thought that made sense. If they are not part of the permanent collection or on loan, then they need to be careful with items outside their ownership. I thanked the staff person for their time and I turn right to the hallway with a banner, "Americans Now".
I enter the first room on my right. I check for any signs of no photography. I don't see any warning signs, so I take my camera out and start shooting the pictures in the room.
After about 5 or 10 minutes, I am approached by a museum staff person to tell me that this is a special exhibit. "No flash photograpy is allowed here," she says.
I apologize repeatedly and tell that her I didn't see any signs. I'm so embarrassed.
Well, after that minor incident, I will be checking the gallery later today on this glorious Friday.
I hope you all have a great weekend!
