Views of the hills and mountainsides in Northern Luzon
Down below from the Tuding area is a mine. It is partially abandoned. Most of the precious metals found underground have been stripped. You can't see it in the picture, but you can see a few buildings near the base of the mine. At the top right corner, you will see housing where the original miners and their descendents now live.
Views of the Baguio City area neighborhoods
Corn. Rice. Beans. All sorts of beans. They have it here. This picture was taken at one of the side street areas in which you can buy food items. I don't know if you can see her, but the girl standing at the right is text messaging her friend. Like in other parts of Asia, text messaging is a common sight among cell phone users, especially for the young.
A warm day to shop for food. Vegetables of choice vary from cabbage, lettuce, ginger, tomatoes, and potatoes. Carrots, onions, and sweet potatoes are pretty common also. This market is directly close to the Baguio Session Road Market area.
This picture was just above the Camdas barangay (subdivision), which is located near Pines College. I frequented a local internet cafe nearby. If you observe the roofing structures on the hill, the design is very Asian, almost Chinese. For the roof pictured near the foreground, it is your standard Western structure and looks quite rusty.
Typical public and private transportation in the Philippines. Many young adults like to ride their motorcycles or scooters. Behind the bike is a brightly colored jeepney. For a 2 hour drive, a rider will pay about 45 to 50 Filipino pesos, which is approximately under or about a dollar. Too bad my daily metrobus and metrorail ride is much more than this amount.
Another view of the populated suburban hill area in Baguio City. It was quite disconcerting to hear roosters crowing and dogs barking during different times of the day and night.
And, yes, chickens are allowed in these neighborhoods.
A cloudy day in Baguio City. You can see a number of hotels, office buildings, and apartment complexes in the background. In the middle of the picture, you can see the man-made lake at Burnham Park.
Views from Mt Pulag, Benguet
In a mere few minutes, the dawn has just covered the Mt Pulag summit area. The picture cannot describe the amazing sights when I got to the top of the mountain area. Please note that we are above the tree line. It's all grassland, baby.
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
