Hibernation time during the spring season

Dear faithful readers,

Another post about the seasonal change in the capital city.

Spring is definitely here in the DC area. At least for the weekend and the next few days, the warm weather will remain! After a dismal cold and wet spell, DC citizens are ready for the change, including myself. I have mentioned it before on this blog.

So, life is a flutter in the Nation's Capital.

The cherry blossoms are blossoming. The temps are just about perfect. And, the daylight is delightfully enlightening.

As I stated yesterday, Abdul Rahman is free. So is Christian Science Monitor reporter Jill Carroll has been released from her captors.

Tomorrow GMU will be facing Florida for the NCAA basketball semi-final. The kids are going to be alright.

If you're interested in checking the latest news with the GMU basketball team, check out the DC regional newspaper blog reporting the skinny in Indianapolis.

With the season just right, my heart is feeling all 'aglow. I already said that, didn't I?

Anyway...You know what that means.

Tourists.

Tourist busses.

Tourist baggage.

Tourist traffic.

Tourist groups congregated at the popular DC stops, which includes Union Station.

That doesn't include the pages, summer interns, and visiting dignitaries coming in and out of the Capital Hill area.

If you have hung around DC at all, you know that the Union Station is where most people visiting the Capital area go for meals, munchies, shop and rest.

Feeding trails of meandering centipede lines are already here today. It took some time to get lunch this afternoon. Loads of people clogging the rails, shoving into busses, and overfilling the eateries. Even as I write this entry, people checking the cherry blossoms at the Tidal basin this morning are heading to U. Station for some afternoon chow.

This is where my avoidant personality tendencies come into play. I walk away from these crowded places during the spring and summer months like they were invading ants at a picnic. When the weather gets warm, the area gets crazy. Local businesses and vendors are happy with all crowds. At least, some people are happy.

Bumping into saccharin- and/or caffeine-filled high school youths away from home for the first time in their lives does not help with me digestion.

That means I'm bringing my lunch to work next week or buying my lunch before 11:30 am or after 2:15 pm.

If you haven't figured it out. This posting is a rant. It's like I'm going through a hibernation of sorts.

I did tell you I like the spring weather, right? I really, really, really, do.
